Global hit series “The Morning Show,” starring and executive produced by Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, renewed for season three
Apple TV+ inks multi-year deal with WGA Award winner Charlotte Stoudt, who joins third season of Emmy, SAG and Critics Choice Award-winning series as showrunner
On the heels of the buzzy sophomore season finale of “The Morning Show,” today Apple TV+ announced that the global hit, Emmy, SAG and Critics Choice Award-winning series has been renewed for a third season. Starring and executive produced by Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston, directed by Mimi Leder and produced by the studio Media Res, Hello Sunshine and Echo Films, season three of the broadly acclaimed drama will be showrun and executive produced by Charlotte Stoudt (“Fosse/Verdon,” “Homeland,” “House of Cards”).
Apple TV+ today also announced a new, multi-year overall deal with Stoudt for scripted television series. Kerry Ehrin, who developed “The Morning Show” and served as showrunner on the first and second seasons, will serve as consultant on the third season, as well as continue developing new series for Apple TV+ under a previously announced overall deal.
“It has been thrilling to watch ‘The Morning Show’ go from strength to strength over the past two seasons, exploring topical storylines that have resonated with audiences around the world while also being incredibly addictive and entertaining,” said Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV+. “We’re excited to see where Charlotte takes these extraordinary characters in season three and to watch the magic that Jennifer, Reese and our awe-inspiring cast continue to bring to the captivating world of morning television.”
“I’m excited to be joining forces with Apple TV+ and ‘The Morning Show,’” said Stoudt. “The cast, led by the phenomenal Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, are truly to die for. Kerry, Mimi and Michael, and the teams at Media Res, Hello Sunshine and Echo Films, have created an irresistible world that is equally delicious and provocative.”The complete first and second seasons of “The Morning Show” are now streaming globally on Apple TV+.
Picking up after the explosive events of season one, season two found “The Morning Show” team emerging from the wreckage of Alex (Aniston) and Bradley’s (Witherspoon) actions, to a new UBA and a world in flux, where identity is everything and the chasm between who we present as and who we really are comes into play. Along with Aniston and Witherspoon, the star-studded cast includes Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass, Nestor Carbonell, Karen Pittman, Bel Powley, Desean Terry, Janina Gavankar, Tom Irwin and Marcia Gay Harden, as well as new additions for season two Greta Lee, Ruairi O’Connor, Hasan Minhaj, Holland Taylor, Tara Karsian as news producer Gayle Burns, Valeria Golino and Julianna Margulies.
The Morning Show, unlike Mitch Kessler, lives on! (Too soon?)
Apple TV+ has renewed the drama starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon for Season 3, TVLine has learned.
The renewal comes with a behind-the-scenes switch: Charlotte Stroud (Homeland, Fosse/Verdon) will take over as showrunner/executive producer, replacing Kerry Ehrin in the role. Ehrin, who is developing series with the streaming service under a previously announced overall deal, will continue as a consultant with the show
The drama’s polarizing second season saw the death of Steve Carell’s Mitch Kessler, who in Season 1 had been outed as a habitual sexual abuser and fired from the titular morning show. Mitch spent most of Season 2 in Italy where, after a visit from his former co-anchor Alex (played by Aniston), he died in a car accident that took place around the start of the COVID-19 lockdown. On a related note, Alex contracted COVID during her time in Italy. Meanwhile, fellow Morning Show host Bradley Jackson (played by Witherspoon) started dating a woman (Julianna Margulies’ Laura Peterson), dealt with a visit from her troubled brother and was on the receiving end of a surprising “I love you” from boss Cory Elison (played by Billy Crudup) in the finale. (For more on the hour, read our interview with Witherspoon and Crudup.)
The Season 2 finale began streaming on Nov. 19, 2021.

As 2021 draws to a close we are taking a look back at what the year has brought for Nestor & the fandom! After a quiet 2020 due to the state of the world there was never a dull moment: from conventions, podcast, as well filming and directed this was quite a year!
Starting in January Nestor attended his first Convention with GalaxyCon which was a small Lost reunion. The event kicked off with a virtual panel where Néstor was joined by co-stars Emilie DeRaven, Francois Chau, & more. During the free live stream panel, we even saw an appearance by Shannon as they discussed the upcoming release of her book All Is Not Lost. In addition to the panel, fans were able to purchase one-on-one chats with the cast members where they could do selfies & buy autographed photos as well.
On February 13, Néstor made a brief appearance during the virtual Seasons of Love Gala where he gave the closing remarks during the live stream benefitting Shane’s Inspiration. The organization builds playgrounds for children and fosters the importance of inclusion for all children through education as well. March 16, saw the release of Shannon’s debut book All Is Not Lost to rave reviews during this time it was promoted by both Nestor & Shannon through various means. From Nestor interviewing Shannon about her memoir to appearing on various podcasts and even on KTLA News in Los Angeles. The day after release it went on to hit #1 on Amazon for New Release books.
In May, Nestor was a guest on Meisterkhan Podcast where he discussed The Tick, Bates Motel, and more. He also made his return to Conventions in person when he appeared along with Shannon at Pensacon. For 3 days they visited fans signing photos as well as copies of All Is Not Lost. Days after the event he surprised everyone in the fandom by beginning the filming of Bandit in Georgia. He portrays, John Snydes a detective tasked with pursuing an escaped convict who will use any means to avoid capture. Filmed over a month the movie based on the true story of the flying bandit is expected to be released in 2022.
In addition to his acting career, Néstor added another directing credit to his name in August when he directed “Seed Money” the 4th episode of Season 4 of the hit medical drama, New Amsterdam. After getting our first look at the trailer & production stills of Season 2 at the beginning of September the cast of The Morning Show attended the Season 2 Photocall in Beverly Hills on September 8th.
Season 2 of The Morning Show began streaming weekly on Apple TV+ after premiering at midnight on September 17th. Throughout the season we saw our beloved weatherman dealt with his breakup with Claire. As well as battling cancel culture and accusations of racism in cultural appropriation due to an on-air comment he makes. After a very public physical altercation he is suspended and we see little of him for the remainder of the season. He does come through in the end when UBA has to quarantine and he is the only one available to work, however.
While at times the season was a bit Yanko light it was an interesting storyline and vastly different from his role in Season 1. On September 30th, it was announced that Néstor rounded out the cast of the FX miniseries, Shōgun. A reboot of the 1980s TV miniseries based on the popular novel. Nestor began filming that month, portraying the role of Father Rodrigues as of yet it is not clear how he figures into the storyline. Ending out the year, on November 18 the finale of The Morning Show was screened for SAG Members with a cast panel accompanying the screening in Los Angeles. It has certainly been a year and cannot wait to see the release of Bandit next year and what more 2022 will bring. Visit our gallery below for the full Lost Panel, as well as links to podcasts, and more for the year!

Today we celebrate not only Nestor’s birthday but we have come to the 1 year anniversary of this site! When I started this site a year ago, I was not sure where it would go. This past year has been an amazing ride filled with ups & downs, certainly never a dull moment in the Nestor fandom! For the anniversary we have an amazing new theme that was designed by Kaci Elizabeth. I originally thought about doing a theme based on Nestor’s overall career but instead went with focusing on one character, and of course I had to go with my favorite – Sheriff Alex Romero from Bates Motel! The theme went through 2 different previews before settling on this look which we both felt captured the old school feel that Bates gave off. The GIF set in the header was Kaci’s idea which she really wanted to incorporate while I wanted to add Nestor’s autograph into the header in some fashion. In addition to the new theme I have also updated the gallery with public appearances that Nestor has made over the years from Film Premieres, Series premieres, Award Events to that time he threw one of the first pitches at an LA Dodgers game even. You can check out all of the events below in our gallery and here is to one year with this site, and can’t wait to see what the 2nd year brings with all of his new upcoming projects!

A birthday is just the first day of another 365 day journey around the sun. Enjoy the trip. Wishing a happy birthday to Nestor Carbonell. Thank you for always taking the time to speak with fans whether in person at a convention or online on social media. Sending love & light for the end of the year as well as luck for your upcoming projects next year! Your fans cannot wait to see them!!
That’s a wrap on Season 2 of The Morning Show! The gallery has been updated with more Behind the Scenes photos of Nestor Carbonell shared by cast mates: Reese Witherspoon & Jennifer Aniston.
Tonight was the season finale of The Morning Show and what a way to bring Yanko’s storyline full circle! In the end due to his suspension Yanko stood alone at UBA to deliver the news since he was the only one not exposed to COVID.
Thank You to Nestor Carbonell & the rest of the cast & crew of The Morning Show – onward and upward to another season!
Tonight’s episode which was released early saw the return of Yanko on our screens due to his suspension & being absent the past 2 episodes. It also saw Yanko & Claire reunited since we last saw them together in the Season 1 finale. What started out to be a sweet reunion with them making plans to get together again before she left goes south. She becomes upset at the realization that Yanko is going to attend Mitch’s memorial service. He begs her to understand why he is going which spurs her to reveal that she is financing the lawsuit against UBA for Hannah. Yanko wants Claire to understand she can’t blame herself for Hannah’s death which only angers Claire more causing her to storm off. It was great to see Nestor Carbonell & Bel Powley back together on screen although it seems that all hope may be lost for a possible reconciliation of their relationship. In the Inside the Episode, Nestor discusses Yanko’s motivation for attending Mitch’s memorial and can be found below in the video vault.
The gallery has been updated with screencaptures from the Director’s Cut of Killer Movie which was released on August 27, 2021. Originally released in 2008, Nestor Carbonell portrays Seaton Brookstone who tasks a client to direct a documentary in a small town. During the course of the film the crew & more are killed off one by one in a spoof of slasher flicks. A nod at this even further is the fact that the director’s cut is shorter with scenes placed in different points of the movie or scenes in the movie (such as Nestor’s interviews) being added as popups on the screen.
